I did not answer him, and I quickly turned my attention back to my yoghurt and Heba.
Heba looked extremely confused, and I was pretty confused myself.
“Mino Hatha?” She quickly asked. She dropped her spoon in the plastic bowl and turned to me, expecting answers.
I explained to her how I did not know him, and how he had followed me on twitter, then retweeted me.
I was not the type of girl who went around looking for boy drama, and Heba knew that. I had never had a boyfriend and at that time I was only fourteen. I had never even crushed on a guy before. Well, not counting a boy named Othman, who I had a huge crush on in first grade, but that was the only time. Saleh following me, retweeting me, talking to me, and giving me that ‘half smile’ was all too much for me, and I honestly found it all a bit creepy.
I dropped Heba off at her house, and then headed home.

I woke up to the sound of Lulu [youngest sister] and her two friends in my room.
I peeked an eye open and saw Reema, one of my younger cousins and Jawa, Lulu’s best friend looking through my closet.
“SHITSAWOON IHNEE?” I yelled. I struggled at first, but I managed to sit up and look at Lulu while squinting my eyes.
“Today is Farah’s birthday oo we are all going to her party bas I don’t have anything to wear, so the girls are going to help me pick out something from your closet.”
I had completely forgotten about Farah’s birthday party today. Farah is my cousin from my mother’s side of the family. We were really close when we were younger, but I guess over the years we just drifted. Today she was turning fourteen, and she invited all her cousins and friends to a party in the Missoni hotel ballroom.
“THERE’S SOMETHING CALLED ASKING ME, BEFORE YOU TAKE MY STUFF.” I snapped at Lulu.
I got up and picked out a small sleeveless black dress, with ruffles on it and handed it to her.
“Wear this.” I commanded.
Lulu smiled in approval. She nodded and walked off with her friends scurrying behind her.
I was showered with hugs, kisses, and compliments as soon as I made my way to my cousins. As soon as I saw Farah I paced up to her, and wished her a happy birthday.
“Faroooha!” I said as I leaned in for a hug.
“Hayooona!” She hugged me back.
“Ya 7mara nesaiteney!” She pouted and crossed her arms together.
“Shakoooo! Wallah intay ile mat digeeeen, wala tis2aleeen, wainich matbayneen?”I replied.
We both realized my whole sentence had rhymed, and we broke it in laughter. I hadn’t realized how much I missed Farah.
Me, Farah, and a few other girls sat together and caught up. We cracked jokes, and it felt just like old times.
Someone tapped Farah on the shoulder, and Farah lit up once she saw the girls face.
“Lujeeeeee!” She squealed.
“Fuuufuuu!” The girl squealed back.
I couldn’t see the girl properly, because Farah was blocking the view.
The mysterious girl engulfed Farah into a hug, and that’s when I saw her face clearly.
It was Lujain Al-X, remember her? The other Barbie doll in Shaikha’s little clan?
I just turned my head away from her, and tried to enjoy what was left of the party.
Me and the girls danced the rest of the night away, and I was pretty surprised to see that Lujain had noticed me a couple of times, but she didn’t give me any dirty glares or try to do anything that Shaikha would probably do. I guess we were both just trying to enjoy celebrating Farhooha’s birthday.
I hugged Farah and wished her a happy birthday once again, and said my goodbyes to the rest of the girls. I headed home with aching feet. High heels, never againL.
I decided to stay up that night, watching sad movies and feasting on any type of junk food I could find in my house. I watched the vow for like the twentieth time, and it still made me cry.
Before falling asleep I decided to log onto to twitter.
I scrolled through my timeline, and checked my mentions. They were all tweets talking about how fun the night was, mentioning me and a few other girls at the party. Farah also tweeted me, saying how great it was seeing me and catching up. Cute J
I hadn’t realized that most of these girls were following me, and I felt pretty rude not following them back. I scrolled up to my followers, to check who was following me, that I needed to follow back.
Farah Al-X
Faroooha<3, I followed her back.
Mimi Al-X
one of the girls I talked to today, I followed her back too.
ShooShoo Al-X
Second cousin, followed back!
Farris Al-X
I sat up once I saw Farris’s name on my screen.
He was Farah’s brother, and I used to be as close to him as I was to Farah. He was two years older than me, and when me and Farah drifted, so did me and Farris.
Would it be weird if I followed him back?
Probably not, it’s not like I don’t know him, right? I mean, he is my cousin.
But the only guy I follow on twitter is my dad ._.
I sat there for about three minutes staring at my screen, debating on whether on I should follow him back.
I realized I was being silly, it was no big deal. I followed him back, locked my phone and went to sleep.

The
ballroom was decorated fabulously. It was one of those over the top parties. I
wasn’t surprised though, because Farah is an over the top girl. **
